The Rocker Doc Music Education Educators

Dr. Marionna

Many of you already know me from "the other place." For those who don't, I'm Doc Marionna, a.k.a. the Rocker Doc.

I've been a professional musician for over 25 years, having picked up the guitar at age 10 thanks to a fellow named John Denver, which gives me over 50 years of playing experience.

I've performed nationally and internationally (in the United States, Canada, and Mexico) at fairs, music festivals, and numerous other venues. I've hosted numerous open mic nights, released a regional acoustic blues album, and written soundtracks for several cable television shows.

I hold a PhD in Theoretical Psychology, graduating with honors from Capella University, and have completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, focusing on the neuroscientific aspects of learning. This has allowed me to use established and explore new psychological principles in my teaching methods.

I've taught music for 15 years and have learned to adapt to each student's unique personality. This gives me a huge advantage in ensuring your success in your musical journey, no matter where you want it to take you.

One of my key strengths is my musical versatility. While I can adapt to any music style, I specialize in classic rock, American and Mexican Folk, and traditional Mississippi Delta Blues. My main folk influence was John Denver, and my main rock influences are Steve Howe of Yes and Tommy Shaw of Styx.

I am also the founder, lead singer, and guitarist for the band Moonshadow (founded in 2025). Be sure to check out our page on this site.
