The Rocker Doc Music Education History

As a former lessons and studio manager at Guitar Center Store 750 in Mobile, Alabama, I had the opportunity to grow a program as I saw fit as a professional musician and psychologist, allowing me to use psychological principles to deliver high-quality lessons. However, the store management felt otherwise, and I could not take advantage of students or their parents that way.

Between highly questionable billing practices, sales campaigns, unrealistic refund/cancellation policies, and assigning students to instructors not qualified to teach a specific instrument, I expressed my desire to step down from management and return to teaching. Instead, the store management decided to part ways with me.

As a result, The Rocker Doc Music Education came to be. An opportunity for me to give high-quality lessons with better results for considerably less money.

After all, you should get what you pay for, and with Rocker Doc Music Education, you get a lot more for a lot less.

My Philosophy

I don't teach out of a book. I customize each student's lessons based on what THEY WANT TO LEARN. And generate lesson materials specific to them.

Do you want to learn and play songs? No problem. Want to learn how to solo? Even better. I have developed unique, fun, and successful teaching methods that enable you to start playing right away and retain what you learn. Sure, there are some basics involved that you'll need to learn, like scales (BORING). But I make learning them fun and meaningful, which will pay off for you. There is a method behind my teaching, based on real science.

Whether playing for a campout, in sold-out arenas, or just in your bedroom, I want you to succeed in your musical journey. Tell me where you want to go; I'll do my best to get you there!

At Rocker Doc Music Education, we are Music Educators, not just Instructors

At Rocker Doc Music Education, I teach you how to play an instrument, not merely instruct you how to play one. Sure, one could say we're using a play on words, but think about it.

You have instructions on how to use a power tool. Are you TAUGHT how to use that tool? A musical instrument is no different. Anyone can merely instruct you on playing that instrument, but it takes an educator to TEACH you how to play. And in a market flooded with so-called guitar "instructors," I set my music school apart.

I will eventually add additional music educators. The standards have already been established and are rigid; we will follow a strict process that includes a panel interview with professional musicians and an audition. Unlike some lesson programs, I won't hire personal friends here. My music educators will be professional musicians specializing in one or two instruments at most and will have verifiable teaching and performance experience with that instrument(s).

If you want to learn how to play, you're at the right place. There are many "instructors" out there, but good luck finding someone who will teach you to play your instrument. All while having fun doing so.
